One Week Young

This adorable baby boy was one week old today…the youngest baby I have photographed so far. I was told that the father plays the guitar each night for his son, so we couldn’t pass the opportunity to get a picture of the baby with the guitar…don’t worry, the baby was never in danger when the picture was taken. He was such a great baby and slept most the session.

Today, I got to photography and adorable Baby Bailey and her photogenic brother, Dillon. What a cute couple of siblings. Dillon is going to be a wonderful big brother. Bailey’s nursery theme is “Paris” and is decorated in black and pink. Click here to see images from her baby shower.

Today, I attended a baby Bailey’s Paris themed shower. The baby’s grandmother put together a great spread of food and a great assortment of treats for a candy buffet.
I got big brother to pose as if he was going to sneak some candy…but he’s such a good boy, he wouldn’t really do that without mom’s permission

Wedding: Carl and Jackie

Today, I was a second shooter for a backyard wedding next to a golf course with Shane Thompson. The touching ceremony was performed by Pastor Adrian Pressley of the Campus Hill Church in Loma Linda and musical selections were performed by gifted family members. All the family worked together to design flowers, decorate the backyard for the ceremony and reception, and to cook some Jamaican specialties to add a family touch. The reception was hosted by Creative Events by Glenn. It’s always a surprise to go to a wedding, be chatting with guests a realize that you know several of the same people. That’s what happened today…what a small world!

The [b]ecker

I was so excited today to drive 90 miles to Mission Viejo for the mentoring session with the [b]ecker. At my day job, it was month end close which means a really busy week, but this was a time that [b]ecker had suggested, so I was delighted to spend a 90 minute lunch with him. I’ve been watching the study hall videos on the [b]school and with his personality, I knew I was in for a great time. I met [b]ecker at his studio. When I first got there, I looked through a couple of his albums…he shot a wedding at the Vatican! We talked about marketing, talking with clients, workflow, starting a business, networking and other items. He also shared his marketing materials with me which have great presentation, but that he is in the process of changing…continuous improvement, even when your at the top!

We followed our discussion with a great lunch at The Cheesecake Factory. [B]ecker went way beyond the 90 minute session and actually spent 3 1/2 hours with me.

Here’s an unsolicited plug for the [b]school. If you’re a photographer and not already a member, what are you waiting for? It’s only $10/month or $100 a year. It’s a resource of information for photographers.

Love the green this time of year. I took this picture on my iPhone on the way back from the mentor to show Bob how greeeeeeen it is right now.

ThirstRelief Auction

Tonight, I had the privilege of submitting the highest bid in the ThirstRelief photography mentorship auction for a 90 minute mentor session with [b]ecker, plus a private school tuition to the [b]school. After bidding stopped, I also found out that Jessica Claire had added a Shootsac to Becker’s auction.

Best of all, the 100 mentors raised almost $42,000 which will help 8,327 lives.

Jasmine Star Workshop

So excited today to be able to attend the Jasmine Star Workshop. Last time Jasmine offered a workshop, it sold out in an hour and I just missed getting in. Bob and I had talked about me going the next time the workshop was offered. But, then we got engaged and starting planning a January wedding. On December 14, I received an e-mail saying that Jasmine was having a workshop on February 16. With the extra expense of a wedding, I thought maybe this wasn’t the best time so I forwarded the e-mail to Bob and wrote, “FYI!! Maybe some other time.”. He immediately called me and asked if I wanted to go…was that really a question he didn’t know the answer to??!! I told him I would love to, but maybe now wasn’t the best time. While we were talking, Bob went on his computer and registered me, then told me I was in. Yeah!
