Suzanne Thompson bio picture

Welcome to my Blog!

My name is Suzanne Thompson.  I enjoy photography, dining at non-chain restaurants, trying new vegetarian recipes, reading, blogging, and exploring new locations...the three most valuable are family, faith, and friends.

I was born in England, moved to Ethiopia when I was four, then to America when I was seven.  In American, I have lived in eight states.  Bob and I were married in January 2010 and we currently live in California and North Carolina.

Reception in Raleigh, NC

This week, I was able to telecommute from Raleigh. It was nice being in the same town as Bob for two weekends and the week between. On the second Saturday night, some of Bob’s friends invited us to a special dinner to celebrate our new marriage. A huge thank you to Chris, Maria, Trevor and...

Truffle Oil

I’m so excited that our North Carolina home is only five minutes from a Whole Foods Market as our California home is 80 miles from the closest store. Last weekend, Bob and I went to the local store. We were looking for some olive oil and I discovered these bottles of truffle olive oil that...

Jasmine Star Workshop

It was such a great learning experience at the Jasmine Star Workshop last Tuesday with 19 other photographers from across the United States. A huge thank you to J* and JD for making the memorable workshop. All the attendees met for dinner on Monday evening at Javier’s in Irvine. During dinner, Jasmine came to join...

ThirstRelief Auction

Tonight, I had the privilege of submitting the highest bid in the ThirstRelief photography mentorship auction for a 90 minute mentor session with [b]ecker, plus a private school tuition to the [b]school. After bidding stopped, I also found out that Jessica Claire had added a Shootsac to Becker’s auction. Best of all, the 100 mentors...

Jasmine Star Workshop

So excited today to be able to attend the Jasmine Star Workshop. Last time Jasmine offered a workshop, it sold out in an hour and I just missed getting in. Bob and I had talked about me going the next time the workshop was offered. But, then we got engaged and starting planning a January...

Happy Valentines Day!

Bob was in North Carolina and I was in California today, but we planned a fun activity together.  Neither of us had made Risotto before, so I found a recipe called Spring Green Risotto that sounded good by Barefoot Contessa (click here for the recipe).  We both bought the ingredients then cooked our Valentine’s meal...

Back from Bora Bora

This morning we arrived back from beautiful Bora Bora. What a great honeymoon location! Have some work items to catch up on (my day job), then I’ll post some pictures.

Last Post for Bora Bora!

It’s hard to believe that today was our last day. We had a wonderful time. One thing that struck us is how many French tourists there were…even more than the number of American tourists. It’s so much farther to France than the US. I guess there’s a reason it’s called French Polynesia. The hotel desk...

Bora Bora, Safari Ride

This morning, we called up Te’a Hui (who took us to church) and asked if he could take us for a Safari 4×4 ride. Yes, he was available so he picked us up to tour the island. The first time we started up the mountain, there was a horrible sound that came from one of...

Bora Bora, Snorkling and Scuba Diving

One morning, I decided to snorkel for the first time in my life. Okay, I practiced in the sand bottom pool a couple days ago in Tahiti, but it was without fish. Now, I was going to be brave and get in the water with all the wild sea creatures. Bob had been in the...
